On-Contract Services

Contract Structure (Up to 6 Months)

I work across a variety of industries and project types, offering development leadership, technical strategy, and execution for businesses looking to move their practice, platform, or product forward through technology.

To keep projects organized and expectations clear, most long-term engagements are structured with two agreements:

  • Developer Services & Terms Agreement
  • Development SOW / LOE Agreement

Definitions

LOE (Level of Effort):

Estimated hours allocated toward project tasks

SOW (Scope of Work):

The agreed timeline, deliverables, and responsibilities for the project

These agreements help ensure clarity around communication, ownership, timelines, revisions, and project expectations for both parties.

Developer Services & Terms Agreement

The Developer Services & Terms Agreement outlines the standard framework for working together, including:

  • Services provided
  • Change request process
  • Ownership and copyright
  • Representations and warranties
  • Communication expectations
  • Payment structure and invoicing
  • General project policies

A sample agreement may be provided upon request.

Development SOW Agreement

The Development SOW Agreement outlines the specifics of the project itself, including:

  • Total hours allocated
  • Project timeline
  • Deliverables
  • Department responsibilities
  • Budget breakdown

Projects may include work across areas such as:

  • Discovery & Research
  • Brand Identity
  • UX & Product Design
  • Web Design
  • Web Development
  • Content Production
  • Quality Assurance
  • Project Management
  • SEO & Copywriting
  • Paid Marketing
  • Social Media Marketing

Typically, this is presented as a proposal or pitch deck outlining the product vision, scope, estimated hours, and projected costs, along with approval and signature fields.

Projects Requiring Contracts

Smaller requests — such as 4–8 hours or occasional 12–16 hour engagements — may not require a formal contract.

However, projects involving:

  • New websites
  • New applications
  • Website redesigns
  • Ongoing development support
  • Recurring updates or maintenance
  • Long-term collaboration

will generally require a contract agreement for engagements lasting up to six months.

Subscription Services

Once a project has stabilized and only ongoing maintenance or periodic support is needed, clients may retain “On-Contract” rates through a recurring monthly subscription.

Subscription agreements may range from:

  • Up to 6 months for active development support
  • Up to 12 months for website maintenance or on-call support retainers
  • Examples of Subscription Services

Subscription plans are customized based on client needs and may include services such as:

  • WordPress plugin updates
  • Website oversight and maintenance
  • Monthly strategy check-ins
  • Technical consulting
  • Website improvements and optimization
  • Priority support for urgent requests

Plans may range from:

  • $25/month — Basic maintenance and plugin oversight
  • $100/month+ — Monthly strategy calls and ongoing website consulting

For clients who schedule recurring check-ins (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly), meetings are typically held on a consistent day and time to maintain continuity and momentum between sessions.

Subscription availability is limited.

Off-Contract Services

For clients not currently under contract, I offer consultations and short-term support on a case-by-case basis.

This often includes:

  • Introductory consultations
  • Technical planning sessions
  • Fractional CTO support
  • Workshops
  • Small fixes or patches
  • Emergency support requests
  • Short-term project assistance

I typically offer a free 15-minute consultation for prospective clients when availability allows.

Off-contract work is best suited for projects with a clearly defined beginning and end, generally lasting no longer than one month.

These rates also apply to former contract clients who may occasionally need quick support or maintenance assistance outside of an active agreement.

Because ad hoc requests require unplanned availability and context switching, off-contract work is billed at a higher hourly rate.
